Electric Radiators

These days electric radiators have become a popular choice for style-conscious homebuilders, and they work well in offices and other locations too. Water-filled electric radiators can look similar to standard central heating, but you can also find electric radiators in stunning contemporary designs. Apart from the traditional electric radiators you can find tall, slim electric radiators which create an attractive look in your room. Tall electric radiators can look nice to the sides of large windows.

Electric radiators are also particularly useful in the bathrooms and other awkward spaces. You’ll find that electric radiators come in a range of sizes so they fit easily into the difficult areas available in a bathroom. Electric radiators are also designed in shapes to suit the bathroom, with handy electric radiators in tubular designs for you to hang and dry your towels. It’s best to take advice when installing electric radiators in the bathroom as you won’t want sockets near water. Watch out for electric radiators in original shapes and a variety of colours for bathrooms, offices and other rooms where you might like something a little quirky.

There’s no need to worry any more about dry, scorched air from electric radiators as the designs have improved. Electric radiators consume less energy than old-style storage heaters and also convectors and fan heaters. As with traditional radiators, electric radiators can work less hard as the warm air is recycled by rising to the ceiling and returning to the floor as it cools. The thermostats on electric radiators mean energy is used efficiently only to heat the air as much as is needed.

With no need for installation of flues, boilers, pumps and plumbing, and no need for maintenance checks, electric radiators can be a cost-effective solution when you look at the annual bills. It’s best to locate your electric radiators under window or on external walls as this cuts out the risk of draughts. Electric radiators positioned well give the best temperature and make the air circulate in the right way for optimum performance.

Electric radiators should be placed at a height of at least 8 to 10 centimetres from the floor to give the best performance. In some buildings you might find that you can’t put the electric radiators under the window or on any external wall due to the shape of the rooms. This can often happen in small bedrooms where the bed can only be positioned in one way and there’s no space left for electric radiators where you would like to put them. In this case you can put electric radiators on an internal wall but the performance will be affected.
